Personal Best Leadership Experience

Cheerleading stunts are a lot harder than people give them credit.  It's a group task that requires durability, bravery, and team work.  I'm a flyer, the person who gets thrown by her bases.  During practices we stunt with what were comfortable with but this one practice, we were learning extension liberties.  Many of the flyers wanted to quit not having faith that they could do it or thought they would fall.  None of us wanted to try it, I'm not usually a leader, I get insecure and let other people step in.  But that day I took the lead and volunteered to go first with enthusiasm and bravery.  I got the hang of it shortly after my first try and I thoroughly enjoyed the idea of everyone looking up to me and seeing my courage in something new.  Once I got it, the rest of the flyers had more faith that it was easier than they thought and followed my example trying it without hesitation.  I got excited when they asked me questions for help and techniques. It was a great experience that I thought made our squad closer with the ability to count on each other and our communication.
