Reasonant Leader

The way I would advise a leader to be a reasonant leader is by first knowing about yourself and having emotional intelligence.  It would be the most helpful to learn by watching another great leader, because you learn best from example and take a lot of those cualities.  Not lashing out and knowing how you react in situations is a good thing.  Being able to keep your position and still showing your power through being calm is much more respected.  Also, listening to the needs of your follwers and making sure they know their idea is being taken into consideration.  Our class has been doing a project for Care for the Campus and i think that by our example to promate a cleaner facility and more respect for the items like chairs and tables will send a bigger message out to the rest of the student body and they can follow by our example.

Goleman Quote Reflection

“No creature can fly with just one wing. Gifted leadership occurs where heart and head – feeling and thought – meet. These are the two wings that allow a leader to soar.”

P. 26 Goleman, Primal Leadership

In Goleman's quote, he uses the analogy that no creature can fly with just one wing.  But a creature needs two wings to be able to fly.  He means by this that a successful leader cant only have heart and head or feeling and thought.  Rather a leader needs to have both qualities and when a leader does have both he is looked up to and will go very far in life with his/her job and socially. A leader needs to have a heart and head for the desire and persistence to be successful and feeling and thought to be aware of the surrounding communities feelings and understand them.  Having both these qualities can help in almost all situations, for example, in cheerleading, the leader needs to be able to really like performing and get joy through it but also listen to what the rest of the team are feeling and any ideas that they have.
