Reasonant Leader

The way I would advise a leader to be a reasonant leader is by first knowing about yourself and having emotional intelligence.  It would be the most helpful to learn by watching another great leader, because you learn best from example and take a lot of those cualities.  Not lashing out and knowing how you react in situations is a good thing.  Being able to keep your position and still showing your power through being calm is much more respected.  Also, listening to the needs of your follwers and making sure they know their idea is being taken into consideration.  Our class has been doing a project for Care for the Campus and i think that by our example to promate a cleaner facility and more respect for the items like chairs and tables will send a bigger message out to the rest of the student body and they can follow by our example.

  1. Lauren, thanks for adding these last two posts. You seem to understand one level of the Goleman quote: it takes head and heart to lead. I alos appreciate that you tried to apply it to your cheerleading experience. I would add more depth to your analysis by suggesting that head refers to ideas, competence, and know how. Heart really refers to you emotional intelligence - how aware of yourself you are and how you manage your behaviors and emotions in the eyes of those you lead.
As for the resonant leader, remember that something that resonates is "in tune." Resonant leaders are in tune with those whom they lead. They establish this by listening well, offering a vision which is compelling and inspring, and engaging those they lead in achieving this vision.
